A new quarterback has arrived in Birmingham.
Just one day after the Stallions got shut out by the Orlando Storm 16-0 in their home opener, they made a trade at the quarterback position.
Stallions starting quarterback Matt Corral and Defensive End Amani Bledsoe have been traded to the Storm for backup quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Thompson-Robinson has spent time in the NFL and was even the starter for the Cleveland Browns for a time, and was expected to be the Storm’s starter before the season began. However, Jake Plummer won the starting job and has led the Storm to a 4-0 start, solidifying his place on the depth chart.
Head Coach AJ McCarron’s comments to the press after last night’s game made this move less surprising. “Everything’s on the table. Trades to QB change, everything’s on the table.”
Matt Corral has been with the Stallions since 2024 when he alternated starting roles before becoming the backup to league MVP Adrian Martinez. His 2025 campaign started with him as the backup to Alex McGough, and eventually getting the chance to start before getting sidelined by injuries.
This season Corral has been the Stallions starter in all three games, throwing for 685 yards and five touchdowns, but also four interceptions. He was benched in the third quarter against the Storm for backup MIchael Heirs, who remains with the Stallions.

Amani Bledsoe is also included in the trade. Birmingham acquired him in the draft as he played the 2025 season on the Arlington Renegades. So far this season he has recorded four solo tackles, five assisted tackles, and one sack.
The Storm get a strong set of players to bolster their already impressive roster, and the Birmingham Stallions get a new quarterback to hopefully right the ship and stop the three game losing skid.
Fans will be able to see Dorian Thompson-Robinson take the reins soon as the Stallions take on the DC Defenders at home this Friday. Birmingham currently sits at the bottom of the league standings and is a long shot to make the playoffs, but this move could be the spark they need.
