The Birmingham Legion have been hinting at a new mascot for weeks, and on Wednesday morning the club made it official.

Dozens of Alabamians tuned in as the Legion unveiled their new mascot, “Noigel,” who will make his first appearance at the club’s home opener Saturday night at Protective Stadium to kick off the team’s seventh season.

According to the team, Noigel is being introduced as Vulcan’s childhood imaginary best friend, adding a unique Birmingham twist to the club’s matchday atmosphere.

Noigel will not arrive alone. The new mascot will be joined by several fellow mascots on Saturday as the Legion celebrate his debut.
