The future of the three-time spring football champions hangs in the balance. New investor Mike Repole says the Stallions need 5,000 season ticket deposits ($50 each) to secure their place in Birmingham.
Reports of a possible move sparked public outcry, both in the city and online, after UFL insider James Larsen’s “unauthorized speculation” gained traction. Let’s recap.
New investor, Mike Repole, wants games to look full on TV which may include moving some teams moving to smaller venues. With the future in limbo, here are all 7 tweets from Repole about the Birmingham Stallions:

Repole tweeted: “The future of the Stallions comes down to you.” Many saw it as an ultimatum when he added, “Let’s get to 5k season ticket deposits this week and I’ll see you all for the first game of the year!!!!!” He closed with a link to SaveTheStallions.com, which redirects to Ticketmaster where fans can place the $50 deposit.

Mayor Woodfin interpreted Repole’s comments as confirmation the Stallions would remain in Birmingham. A day later, Repole clarified that was not the case, noting only 500 deposits had been made and reiterating that the team’s future depends on reaching the 5,000 goal he set.
August 16th, 1:15 PM:
Repole then took a jab at Mayor Woodfin, who is running for reelection, saying: “Still, I believe in Birmingham. With your leadership (or maybe the new mayor’s 😂), we can make this happen.”

The next day, Repole quote-tweeted an article from renowned local outlet bhamsports.net, giving traction to the idea of moving the Stallions to a smaller venue — the Hoover Met. While the concept isn’t impossible, the fast turnaround required from the grounds crew could make it unrealistic.

Repole fired back at “Inaccurate James,” as he’s come to be known, after Larsen criticized him for no-showing a scheduled appearance on the 3 Man Front show.

August 21st, 2:37 PM:
Repole tweeted that 3 Man Front — one of the few local outlets covering the Stallions — rejected his appearance. He added that he missed a spot on Mac & Cube that morning because he was having breakfast with the mayor of St. Louis.

August 21st, 3:59 PM:
Repole gives an update on season tickets. 2,800 season ticket deposits remain.

It has been a confusing and uncertain week full of cryptic tweets. It would be a shame to lose the 3x spring football champions and the #1 UFL TV market in the country.
