New UFL investor, Mike Repole, posted that a way to guarantee that the three-time spring football champions remain in the Birmingham area is to sell 5,000 season ticket deposits in a week.
Promoting the 2026 spring football season just days before college football kicks off is diabolical. In Birmingham—the city that watches more college football than anywhere in the country—fans are being asked to put down deposits for 2026 season tickets without even knowing the prices, 8 before the season begins. It feels like blackmail.
We do know that the $50 deposit will be refunded if the team is relocated, but not knowing the season ticket price isn’t helping sell tickets.
Losing the Birmingham Stallions would be a shame. In a league that prioritized TV ratings above all else, Birmingham delivered as the #1 TV market. Add to that three championships in four seasons, attendance averaging 9,806 last year (excluding the Mother’s Day 11 a.m. game) and 10,255 in 2024—and it should be more than enough to prove this market’s value.
